Position Title: Associate Director, Alliance Relations, Corporate Policy and Alliances, Government Affairs & Policy

Position Reports to: Director, Corporate Policy and Alliances, Government Affairs & Policy

Location: Washington, DC or Foster City, CA

Description

The Alliance Relations Associate Director will serve as a Gilead representative to external alliances and advocates, engaging relevant partners to best support Gilead and the patient community's objectives. This person will work collaboratively across the GA&P functions, aggregating and translating Gilead's global advocacy principles and objectives for dissemination among key external partners. This person will be responsible for building new relationships and maintaining existing partnerships, with sustained and continuous engagement and communication with an alliance network that spans Gilead's portfolio (HIV, Liver Disease, Inflammation and Oncology). Additionally, the Associate Director will inform and educate internal colleagues regarding partners' interests, needs and other objectives, including potential policy implications.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Create framework and strategies for global stakeholder mapping and effective engagement and communication with alliance partners
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability to develop long-term, trusting relationships with alliance organizations
  • Communicate timely and relevant information/knowledge sharing with key partners and stakeholders
  • Maintain strong understanding and extensive knowledge of Government Affairs and Policy objectives and broader Gilead business
  • Represent Gilead at major policy, medical, and patient meetings
  • Collaborate on annual grants cycle by contributing as appropriate to review processes



Qualifications

  • Minimum of ten years post-college relevant healthcare experience.
  • Four or more years' experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry strongly preferred. Previous alliance relations experience within a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company strongly preferred.
  • Existing relationships with alliances and advocates who influence public policy is strongly preferred.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements, resourcefulness and creativity, and an ability to work collaboratively in a fluid organizational environment.
  • Be willing and able to travel both domestically or internationally
